Do’s & Don’ts

Arkansas Social Security Disability Lawyer

As with many subjects, there are certain actions you can do and ones you shouldn’t do, in the area of Social Security benefits. By touching on some of these do’s and don’ts, I hope to increase your understanding of the system and avoid some of the problems that can arise.

The first and foremost “do” is to ask an experienced Arkansas social security disability lawyer any and all questions you have regarding Social Security disability. There are many rules and regulations and understanding these will assist you and your attorney to get the benefits you need.

Do apply for benefits as soon as you are disabled. There is a 5 month waiting period until your first payment will be made, so it is important to act quickly. Don’t apply for Social Security disability benefits if you are partially disabled or your disability is short-term. Benefits will only be paid for individuals who suffer a total disability.

Don’t give up if your initial claim is denied as this is not uncommon. At Angel Disability Law, I am fully prepared to go the through the 4-level appeals process in order to obtain your benefits.

Facts You Need to Know

Do give all the information on your illness or injury to your doctor(s) and how it has affected your ability to work. At some point, your doctors will be asked for this data. They need to be able to supply complete information so that a correct determination can be made on your disability.

Don’t fail to inform Social Security if you are receiving benefits from other government programs. Those benefits may affect you disability payments and Social Security will need complete and accurate information in order to determine the correct payments you should be getting.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a program that provides monthly payments to persons of low income and few resources. Do use your attorney to apply for these benefits, if you meet the requirements as above and are disabled.

I am at your service to provide answers to your questions. I have the legal experience to help you during a time when you may really need the assistance.
